The Bible On… Heaven (Chris)

There are 807 mentions of “heaven” in the NRSV Bible.  Interestingly, Jesus teaching about heaven references everyday experiences.  This indicates that heaven is both forever and right now wherever God is allowed to rule.  There also are hints – albeit controversial ones – that Christ’s presentation of heaven and hell may be different from common understanding.

Why did Jesus have to die?  Why couldn't God just forgive us without the cross?  Our inability to understand the true nature of sin and problem of forgiveness cause us to ask these common questions.  Yet forgiveness is truly a costly endeavor, and because God forgives us, we are called to forgive others.
