Symbolism in the Bible: Bread (Randy)

Some of the Bible’s most compelling stories involve bread – manna from heaven, the feeding of the 5,000, and the Last Supper. That is because bread symbolizes God’s provision for our lives, first in a physical sense and later in a spiritual one.  Jesus became the bread of life, broken for us so that we might have eternal life through him.

We often become frustrated when things don’t go out way and feel like doors have been slammed shut in our face.  Yet in the Bible, God opens the door to us and invites us to enter – entering into a right relationship with him. When we do, he opens even more doors, doors of opportunity to serve him in new and exciting ways.

Taking the Political out of Politics (Kelly Vieira)

How are we to choose our next President?  The Bible offers ideas for how to think about the decision without having to concern ourselves with politics.  There, we learn that God chooses those who only reluctantly agree to serve; God looks to the heart of a leader vs. to superficial qualities; and God encourages leaders to surround themselves with counselors and teams.
